The Czech Republic joined the worldwide network of IFMA Facility Managers in April 2000. The current development of technical and economic solutions for the management, maintenance and operation of buildings is shaped by the effort to increase the priority efficiency of these solutions. There is an increasing scope for the application of Facility Management methods (hereinafter FM) in the context of construction life cycle costs, benefits and maintaining long-term, sustainable development. The paper deals with the analysis of the scope of services and SW products of Facility Management. Facility management support systems, like other IT systems, are used primarily to support decision-making, planning and control in the field of FM. Although the information systems market has long offered a range of comprehensive maintenance management systems, at least some systems are still used by a minimum of organizations. The paper was based on three factors influencing the development of FM: the development of technical and economic solutions in relation to Facility Management, the development of FM in the Czech Republic in the development stages and the Czech version of the European standard EN 15 221 - 1: 2007.
