Interferometry SAR (InSAR) is a remote sensing method allowing surface deformation of large area to be investigated. The InSAR results achieved for the Ostrava region were carried out in the GMES/Terrafirma project. The mining induced subsidence was identified by PSI technique up to few centimetres per year, mainly in the Ostrava town. Using DInSAR technique could be even detected the vertical movement in tens of centimetres per year, like it was found in the area between towns of Ostrava and Karvina.
