Repeated geodetic surveying by GPS at the observation network near Karvina was done to observe movements of surface points caused by underground mining in the area of a difficult tectonic situation. GPS method provides spatial coordinates of surveyed points and that is why it enables to compute not only vertical movements – subsidence – but also horizontal movements – shift. The evaluation of horizontal movements caused by undermining near Karvina has shown on non-uniformities and influences of wider area on given subsidence depression.
