The authors describe potential seismic risk of buildings of historic centre of Banska Stiavnica town for those two approaches were applied: the first one, based upon EMS-98 standards and the second one, based upon the calculation of maximal expected seismic acceleration. The latter one was based on the map of engineering geological zoning prepared at a scale 1 : 1000.
