The presented article sets itself the task of defining the basic content dimensions of the conference topic, dealing with the relationship between the city and the airport. The introductory part focuses on the importance of air transport, the development of the relationship between the city and the airport, the history of civil airports and the characteristics of take-off and landing areas, as a basic technical element of the airport. The article also deals with an overview of obstacle planes and areas and protection zones and short-haul air traffic. The final part of the paper examines the territorial consequences of the existence of the airport, the role of air transport quality, as well as the reasons for the development of air transport requirements.
