The aim of the publication is to study the correlation between the methodology for determining the moisture content at the yield point using Casagrande dishes of the current Czech state standard and the methodology based on the principle of the cone test according to the newly implemented European standard. This will allow a better link between the use of a large statistical set of surveys carried out for the purpose of building foundations in the past, available in Geofond, to newly conducted engineering geological surveys according to the new European standard in relation to moisture at the yield point for very widespread clay soils. The range of values for the detected samples ranged from 21.49 to 49.56% according to Casagrande and for the cone test ranged from 24.11 to 51.07%. The difference in results for identical samples reached values from 1.15 to 4.19%. The studied average difference coefficient between the methods has a value of 2.55%.
