Flood banks are the most important hydro-engineering system. They protect nearest region from effects of the high water level. The high water level and the bad technical conditions of flood banks are the most often flood causes. It means that the technical conditions of flood banks should be checked periodically and the damage renovated. This article presents results of research of the flood bank structure carried out with the GPR. Measurements were carried out on the donated embankment for the renovation and on the same embankment after renovating. Research results were analyzed and the modernization of embankment was estimated.
